Behind the Moments is a two-day retreat for live sound engineers looking to elevate their post production & live stream captures. Hosted at my studio in Charlotte, North Carolina, this retreat combines hands-on coaching, collaborative learning, and creative exploration. You’ll gain valuable insights, connect with like minded creatives and leave with the confidence and tools to craft professional, live recordings.

We will look into the album process for records that I was apart of from BETHEL MUSIC, UPPERROOM, ELEVATION WORSHIP, ELEVATION RHYTHM and many more!

  1. Collaboration and File Management

    • Importance of providing clean and professional mixing sessions for your mixing engineer OR yourself. (they will be thankful and might cry)

    • Establishing file structures that facilitate teamwork across different departments.

  2. Demo Recording Workflows (how we capture is the foundation on how we release the music God has put in you)

    • Guidelines for setting up effective demo recording processes.

  3. Preparation for Recording Sessions

    • Strategies for planning and preparing recording nights.

  4. Microphone Selection and How to Approach Crowd Capture

    • How to choose the right microphones for the room.

    • Techniques for analyzing your room to determine what is necessary and what is redundant. MORE DOESN’T MEAN BETTER

    • How to work with what your church has vs needing to spend tons of money without maximizing what you already have.

  5. Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Selection/Set Up

    • Considerations for choosing a DAW and rationale behind the choice.

    • Steps to prepare a primary recording setup and a redundant one using Dante, MADI, or AES protocols.

  6. ProTools Workflow for Pre/Post Production

    • Strategies for an efficient ProTools setup, including:

    • Track labeling and color coding.

    • Marker setup for ease of navigation.

    • Techniques for phase and time alignment of drums.

    • Crowd noise management (de-clicking, rebalancing).

    • Session organization (breakout sessions, locking to tempo).

    • Insights on editing and tuning sessions effectively.

My biggest goal is that you walk away from this retreat feeling inspired, educated and poured into! I believe that if you are CALLED then you are tasked with STEWARDING it well.
